Title: Bar Coda, 2012
Medium: Mirror finish acrylic and plywood
Collection of Phoenix Market City Chennai
Location: Third floor
This reflective installation Bar Coda was created by Mumbai based artist and designer Samir Parker (b. 1975). In this work, Parker explores one of the most important technological contributions to the retail industry, the bar code. Parker has transformed this language of commerce into a beautiful mural inspired by the work of the French artist Daniel Buren. Parker has collaborated with various Indian artists in the past as an exhibition and installation designer. In the last few years, through his drawing and writing, he has been artistically articulating urban spaces using the architectural and material language of development with materials including flex, the synthetic material used to create billboards.
Samir Parker’s work is in the permanent collection of Phoenix Market City Chennai
